Lodgers

Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa 2022

Lodgers is an installation project in collaboration with MIT; a two-year-long investigation into local material cycle, construction technique, ecological condition, and knowledge production in Nevada, particularly the Black Rock Desert and Pyramid Lake region.

Sited in Fly Ranch, a 3800-acre land in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, Lodgers foregrounds those whose footprint precede us and celebrates the symbiotic relationship of humans and other-than-humans, a balance achieved through hundreds of years of practice. It learns from the traditional ecological knowledge embedded in Paiute practice and transforms the contemporary understanding of architecture as permanent and distinct from natural ecologies.
